Below are two additional pieces of software that can be very useful when profiling a Windows system. I suggest downloading, installing, and learning how to use these on a Windows VM. Both tools can thoroughly analyze the system's configuration and startup behavior and complement each other to provide a detailed report of the computer system's security and configuration. Also, I would suggest loading up a forensic image in Autopsy of Windows and see what you can discover!
Belarc Security Advisor is a great piece of software for profiling a Windows Computer. It will provide you with a list of installed software and hardware, networking information, and details about missing Microsoft Updates. One of the best features is that it provides all this information in an easy-to-read HTML document that you can view in a Web Browser.
Another great utility that Microsoft provides for free is the Autoruns utility. This utility provides a view into the Windows Registry and displays programs that are configured to run during system boot or when a user logs in. This tool provides additional information, such as Explorer extensions that load with Windows Explorer, scheduled tasks and when they are scheduled, and more.
Download Autoruns.
